This station is situated just in front of the sea, over the rooftop of Hotel Playa de la Luz in Rota (Playa de Piedras Gordas).

The station is at ~12 m above sea level. The SE-NW quadrant (~130º to 300º) is completely looking to the sea and is influenced by sea conditions, while the rest of the sector has land influences (NW-SE, from 300º to 130º).

The heights of the instruments are:

- Wind vane and anemometer: 2.5 m above (terrace) ground level (~ 12 m above sea level).
- Termohygrometer: 1.5 m above ground level (~ 11 m above sea level).
- Pyranometer: 1.75 m above ground level (~ 11.25 m above sea level).
- Rain gauge: 2 m above (terrace) ground level (~ 11.5 m above sea level).
- Pressure sensor: 1 m above ground level (~ 10.5 m above sea level).
- Temperature and soil moisture sensor (installed close to the soil. Note the soil moisture measurements are not valid. The soil temperature values can be indicative of the terrace's soil temperature during nighttime and morning hours (sensor not protected from radiation).
